Had to quit

As I wrote a month or two ago, I found a job that allowed me to work from home for about 6 to 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.  Which was fabulous. The pay wasn’t that great. I was paid every two weeks and my checks were about 400 each every two weeks. Which wasn’t too much of an issue because I was only working to have extra spending money. When I got the job, everything was great. Predictable. Nothing was too bad. I was super excited. Well not that excited because I was going to be on the phone. And I get tired of talking on the phone too much because customers can be complete jerks.

Then when I was in training, I was told on numerous occasions that if they listened to my calls and heard anything other than my voice on my end, it would be my job.

I was okay with that. I worked to the best of my capability… I made sure my kids couldn’t be heard in my working area. I tried my best. Well, then my brother went missing. Or so I thought. We didn’t hear from him for 3 weeks. This is the brother that cuts himself and has overdosed a few times. So we didn’t know what to think. I went off the phone a few times during my shift because we made a missing person’s report and the cop would occasionally call. I would have to answer because I needed to know if they had heard anything. I missed a few days because of my brother being gone and when we finally did find him. I took a day to get him home.  I was also promised when I got the job to have this one specific day off that I have had set since November. Well, that day was growing closer and they had me schedule to work. So I asked what am I supposed to do? Their answer. Call out. So that it would look bad on me. My mother in law needed surgery. She had no one else to take her. Stay with her and generally look out for her while the meds wore off. I tried all week to get that day off so I could be there. They wouldn’t give it to me. It was either I call out or she wouldn’t be able to have her surgery. So I had to call out.

And then my girls got a stomach bug. You never send your sick kids to someone else to watch. That is just spreading the germs. And your kids want you when they’re sick. So I called out.  I went in two days later, after my kids had given me their bug. I still went to work. I had to take a few extra breaks because I was sick. I don’t think customer would want to hear heaving in their ear. I always waited til I was off the phone, til after I helped the customer to get sick. And then I went into a meeting with my manager. He was great. He built my ego up for the first few minutes of the call. Boasting about how great I was at helping the customers. At how I was always looking out for their best interest. Then….his entire demeanor changed. His voice changed. His attitude changed. And basically told me my family wasn’t a priority. That my kids weren’t a priority. That the job was my only priority. That I shouldn’t be taking an extra break to get my kids their meds (we keep them in our bathroom so the kids can’t get them) Basically, it didn’t matter what was happening in my family, my job was supposed to come first.

Then the customers, if they didn’t get their way…..they had no problem tearing into you even if its not your fault.   which wasn’t good for my mental health. The way my manager would call… and discuss things. wasn’t good for my mental health. Building someone up just to tear them down is not the correct way to manage. The final straw was being told my family wasn’t a priority. So after discussing with my husband….

I quit.

I only took the job for some extra money. No amount of extra money was worth my suffering or most importantly my kids suffering.

So that’s where I am at right now. Looking for another work from home job that doesn’t include being on the phone. or with toxic people.

How do I pack for a trip

We don’t take many trips. However, when we do…. I have a habit of over planning.

packing-gif-5.gif

I don’t know about you, but I cannot do last minute anything. If it is last minute, I have a massive anxiety attack. I also have an anxiety attack if I am late. So when we plan a trip, I pack early.

For instance, we took an anniversary trip. Just me and my husband. Only over night. However, I packed our suitcase almost a week before hand. I bought everything that we needed months leading up to our trip. You see, we actually planned this trip in November. By December I had already booked our hotel and paid for it. Three weeks before the trip I got the suitcase out of storage so that a week before the trip I could pack.

Usually I pack one or two extra outfits because well you know life happens. However, for this specific trip I didn’t.  However, I took my kids and my two nephews to the beach for a day trip and well….. I over packed for that trip. I mean literally over packed. They had their swimsuits, they had the outfit they wore there and they had an additional outfit. We had like two things of sunscreen an umbrella a chair for my mom toys snacks and drinks.

That is how I usually do my trips. I over pack. When we go to this festival every year, I have a backpack.  I’ve only ever been to this festival with kids so I always have to be prepared. This trip, its a day trip we leave about 8am get home around 8pm, I have to be prepared because the place itself is expensive. So my backpack usually consists of diapers, drinks, snacks (even tho outside food is not allowed) Wipes, a sippee cup, and a baggie with about 4 or 5 pairs of my husbands old socks. The kind he doesn’t wear anymore.

That sounds weird right?

Toting around old socks.

I’ll explain it to you.

This event is an outside event, there are no restrooms. Only portapotties. And you don’t want to sit on those seats. And My kids don’t know how to hold themselves over the potty. Considering I have had back issues for the last 3 years today, I cannot hold them over the seat. It just hurts way too much and I got a lot of walking to do. So I use socks. My husband wears the long socks. The kind that come half way up your calf. So I take his old socks that he don’t wear anymore and slip them on the seat. Therefore, she can easily sit on the seat. After she is done, we just toss the socks. I’ll refill the bag when I get home. Its a great plan. And I try to always keep a pair with me. They’re clean socks because they’ve been washed. He just don’t wear them anymore because they’re old or some reason.

I am an over planner. I have always been an over planner.  When we go for a weekend trip like we did for my moms birthday. I figured we would be there 3 nights 4 days. Therefore we each had 5 outfits just in case. We had my camera for memories. I packed snacks. I bought travel toiletries. I packed the drinks the kids like. I packed books and toys for them to play with. I packed medicine because you never know when allergies or a cold is going to hit. I always make a check list for the packing before and then I make a copy of the check list so that I can check it off before we leave where ever we are.

you could say, I am a little OCD or obsessive. It drives me insane how others, cough cough (my brother) waits til the last possible moment to pack.

How do you pack for a trip?

The best concert

Choosing a favorite concert is extremely hard. I have been fortunate enough to go to so many. It is one of the few things that I can do while being extremely anxious. Being in the big crowds is extremely shaking as well as the awful traffic that we have to go thru to get there. It is extremely awful for me. But the music is my therapy. My first concert was back when I was 14. My brother and his wife took me. It was an amazing concert and a wonderful introduction into the musical world. I saw 10 years, Mudvayne and Korn.

While Korn was pretty awesome, mudvayne is the one I was looking forward to since I had spent months since finding out I was going studying and focusing on their music. I had never been to a concert before this one and it was pretty amazing for me because it showed me into this whole new world of live entertainment. If I hadn’t had gone to this show, I don’t know if I would have had the balls to branch out to more shows.

My next concert was also with my brother. It was TOOL. They were so phenomenal. It was such a great show that you didn’t even realize you were standing for 3 hours. It was great. However, I didn’t know as many songs by them as my brother did.

He loved it so much that when they came back thru, he went right back.

My third concert came about when I was around 15 or 16. Again, with my brother and his wife. This was actually a concert that he had chosen for me to take a friend with me. Which was even more amazing. except for the fact that my friend spent most of the concert throwing up and my brother/sister were making out most of the concert. Either way, I still loved the show. We saw breaking seether, breaking benjamin and three days grace.

Now this was three days grace before the change of the lead singer. This was right after RIOT came out on the radio. Let’s just say, I lost my voice and my calf muscles were on fire from the amount of jumping. It was amazing.

However, my next concert after that was supposed to be the first concert I was supposed to be attending with my husband and we had purchased 2 tickets weeks in advance. Unfortunately, he had to go to work out of state at the time of the concert. Which happened to be right after we got married, it was a rough time. However, I needed to find someone else to go with me. So I choose my other brother, my oldest brother to go with me and we really had a great time. It was the second time that I saw Breaking Benjamin and found a new band called Young Guns. They were quite amazing and actually got a photo with the lead singer.

I went to this one thing called weenie roast in 2015. I was pregnant and sick pretty much the entire time but it was still amazing. We saw LIVE which as a 90’s kid hearing Lightning Crashes live was pretty amazing. But the thing that I will always remember is seeing Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington live. It was the only time that I was able to see  Chester in person, which kind of made me very sad when I went back to that same venue earlier this week. tumblr_otep7llKxP1tknl59o1_500

Of course the concert I went to right after that was Green Day. They were flipping amazing and the one concert that I had absolutely wanted to go to for a very long time. Who doesn’t love Billie Joe Armstrong. 3648186636d5ae53e2b40d3e5657b51ce800ccc15f5c1d31f6132fec92c09fe1

Two months after Green Day was FOB and I went with my best friend. That’s Fall Out Boy for those who don’t know what it is. Which I don’t know many who don’t know who fall out boy is. That concert was amazing. It was the first concert I went to without a family member. I let loose. I danced like no one was watching. I screamed lyrics like no one was listening. I was free. And I get to go for my birthday this year which makes me so happy.

So FOB was in November and I haven’t been to another since then until this week. When we got to be apart of the last Vans Warped Tour. Where I got to see Issues. which was a fantastic experience. I was got to see new music and learn of new bands so it was a win win. I have been listening to Issues since we decided that this was a concert we were going to. So since about January. I really enjoy their music.

However, the one band that I could no wait to see was Simple Plan. I have been listening to them since I’m Just A Kid came out in 2002. I got their autograph and I got a picture with them I was so excited. I was overjoyed. I was jumping and screaming and dancing and in awe If you have never had the chance to see Simple Plan…. I strongly suggest that you do.

But which is my favorite.  I honestly cannot choose. Each concert holds specific and strong memories for me. Each event marked a special moment in my heart. They each came at a pivotal moment in my life. I wouldn’t trade any of the events I have been to and I honestly cannot say I have a favorite.

How about you? Do you have a favorite concert?
